Leading Edge Aviation Services was
founded in 1994 by Mark Moberg and
his brother, David Moberg. Together,
they began the company in a small
building that was the home of the
former airport owner, George
Vandenberghe. They had a very
small FBO facility and a 4,000
square foot hangar where they served
as an aircraft maintenance facility
at the then called Vandenberg
Airport. Catering to smaller
piston aircraft, the facility at
that time specialized in fuel
services, flight training, small
general aviation aircraft
maintenance, and aircraft charter.
In 1999, the company took another
step toward servicing the aviation
community, when it opened its
temporary location adjoining the
newly constructed 5000 foot runway.
Leading Edge operated out of a
provisional facility during the
construction of a modern aviation
support facility that it would soon
occupy at the airport. During
that time the airport added
improvements like an ILS precision
approach and automated weather
services. This put the airport
on the map for all makes of
corporate aircraft in all weather
conditions.
Just one year later, Leading Edge
expanded its over all services and
the company began offering
comprehensive aviation services in
this all new facility. Leading
Edge was now servicing business jets
and selling Jet Fuel for the first
time in the airport’s history.
The new facilities were joined by
thousands of dollars in new
equipment that was necessary to
service the wide variety of general
aviation aircraft from the small
tail dragger to the Global Express,
which now use the reliever airport
for Tampa International Airport.
By 2002, Leading Edge received its
FAA certified repair station
approval and was one of the first
Cirrus Aircraft service centers in
the country.
Over the following several years the
Leading Edge facilities have
expanded to over 40,000 square feet
of bulk hangar space, over 150 t
hangars, 100 tie down locations,
and a terminal and maintenance
complex that is 60,000 feet in size.
Our services now include a pilot
shop, stocking everything from
aircraft nuts and bolts, to pilot
training aids, GPS equipment,
clothing, cockpit supplies and pilot
gifts. A completer list of FBO
