CERTIFIED FLIGHT INSTRUCTOR (INSTRUMENT)

PREREQUISITES:

Possess Commercial Certificate Instrument Rating, and Class 2 Medical Certificate.

Flight instructor, Instrument tests are given in two parts. 

  1. Fundamentals of Instruction

  2. Analysis of Flight Maneuvers

Both of these are in the written as well as the practical test. 

If applicant holds an "airplane" Flight instructor, the "Fundamentals of Instruction" may not have to be completed for the written, but the applicant will be held responsible for the " Fundamentals of Instruction" on the check ride. 

The flight test is accomplished in an aircraft appropriately equipped for instruments.  If this is an initial check ride for an instructor's certificate, the applicant may be required to go to the FAA.
